John Cole, MD, FAAD
Dr. Cole is a South Georgia native who grew up in Berrien County. In 2004, he graduated summa cum laude from Valdosta State University with a bachelor’s degree in biology. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia in 2008. Following medical school, he completed his dermatology residency at the University of Florida and Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida, serving as chief resident his senior year. He is a double diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, with primary board certification in Dermatology and subspecialty certification in Micrographic Dermatologic (Mohs) Surgery. Dr. Cole is a fellow of both the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
Cole Dermatology opened in September 2012 and has quickly grown to meet the ever-increasing need for specialized dermatologic care in Valdosta and the surrounding area. After nearly five years in private practice, Dr. Cole decided to seek more specialized training in Mohs micrographic surgery given the limited availability of the specialized procedure in South Georgia. He studied and operated under one of his mentors, Dr. Franklin Flowers, Professor Emeritus of the University of Florida's Dermatology Department and a former Mohs surgery fellowship director. Since that time, Dr. Cole has performed several thousand Mohs procedures.
In his spare time, Dr. Cole enjoys spending time with his family and friends, playing the piano, cooking, and tackling various DIY projects. Since Dr. Cole and his wife, Nancy, both grew up in the area, it was always their goal to return to South Georgia. A P.A. with prior clinical experience in surgery, Nancy currently functions in an administrative capacity within the practice. They have two young daughters.
